Interview with Miro (Miroslav Holub)
Q>>
Hello guys! First thing one notices in your sound is that creepy weird feel
that comes out of every single note... Now, I'm wondering if you're the type
of (depressive) musicians who put all their sadness into music... or maybe you're
kind of different in your everyday life? Tell us...
A>> We always try to put our feelings and emotions into our music. It
could be, that it is rather depressive and sad, but I think, these emotions
make the right athmosphere. I must say, that as a musicians we are not depressive
at all. Our everyday life is quite common, maybe that is why we love to play
and compose our "creepy weird" songs.
Q>> How did
you come up with "In Love With Blood"? Did you take much time to finish
the compositions?
A>> In the beginning of 2002 we made contract with our present label Crystal
Production and it includes proposition for a new album. We were glad, because
the compositions for an album were already made. So we had come to studio, where
we stayed for 2 weeks. There we finished it, made the arranges and mastered
it. It was quite quick process.
Q>> How's
the general reaction of the people who heard the album so far?
A>> The general reaction is ecstasy and trance! Although I think this
album needs to be listened more than one time, so far even the critical articles
were surprisingly good. For us the most important is opinion of our fans. And,
as I know, they like it.
Q>> As I
always tell Czech musicians, you guys have something very strong inside. What
the hell is it? I still don't understand why the Czech Republic is so damn good
at bringing excellent bands to the Metal scene...
A>> Thanks for all Czech musicians. It is nice to hear it. Maybe our country
have a large number of metal fans, who just do not want only to listen to it,
but also try to play it. Just like our band did. We are true heavy metal fans
too.
Q>> One thing
disappointed me a little... the artwork of your album. What do you think of
it? I honestly think it sucks. And that's a real pity because, paradoxically,
your music is excellent!
A>> The booklet we made ourselves. Six guys in front of the computer…
What can I say…, we would try to make it better for our next album.
Q>> Let's
go back to the music: there's a special thing in your sound that makes it very
atmospheric but it's not only the keyboards... I think the songs are constructed
in a certain way and they're just so intense... Sometimes, it's like a soundtrack
of an artistic horror-movie... Did you notice?
A>> I am glad you used the word "intense". It seems you listen
carefully to our new album. And a horror-movie? I think it is a very interesting
idea. Maybe Tim Burton can do it. Or John Carpenter? We must think about it.
Q>> What
about you? Have you been involved in the underground Metal scene for a long
time? Tell us about your experience as a musician...
A>> R.E.T. is known in our metal scene already for 12 years. Although
I'd knew the guys for a long time, I'm relatively a new member of our band.
And I really enjoy it. Mostly our live performances on summer festivals or club
stages.
Q>> What's
coming next? Shall we be doomed again?
A>> I am sure you will! The preparations for a brand new album already
started.
