Interview with Sluti666
Q>>
Hey! I'm still in shock; just heard your new album and it was quite a blow
I thought you'd have become more reasonable ("Absence Of War" was
a little cooler), but apparently not ;-) This is pure fuckin' Armageddon! How
did you come up with such a brutal sound?
A>> It has been one fucking hellish year for us; I think that affected
our state of mind when we were writing material for this new album. Not only
Teemu died, we lost other people too. We worked really hard for this one and
it bloody shows!
Q>> Impaled
Nazarene seems - more than ever - hundred percent true to his philosophical
beliefs. I guess your viewpoint on Christianity and ignorance hasn't changed
how are things evolving in Finland nowadays? Do you think people got interested
in your lyrics and changed their minds about certain things?
A>> Main inspiration for lyrics actually came from the fact that we have
a new government here in Finland - it got elected on April this year. Centre
party won and suddenly we have lots of hardcore Christians deciding what is
good for us and what is not. They have managed to make prostitution illegal
already, they are attacking video games, movies, even bloody (American) wrestling
on telly. Our prime minister said in an interview that women should stay at
home and breed. This is the year 2003, can you fucking believe that crap???
I cannot tell whichever people actually read my lyrics, I can only hope so.
Q>> How's
Tuomio doing? Do you guys miss Teemu or did his tragic death become just a bad
memory in the back of your mind?
A>> I don´t miss Teemu as a band member, he was a slacker. He was
really unreliable, always skipped rehearsals for whatever lame reasons and he
was not a major song writer for us. I do miss him as a friend; he was one of
the best guys ever to walk on this shitty planet. I always shared a hotel room
with him when we were on road; we both had the same frame of mind. And, we saw
Teemu´s death coming, he was living his rock´n´roll dream
to the max. He knew what he was doing. Tuomio is doing great; he even wrote
one song, "Halo Of Flies", for the album. This may sound harsh but
Teemu´s death made us much a better band; we are stronger than ever.
Q>> "Suffer
In Silence" and "All That You Fear" (the title-track) have a
slower groove. Are these songs connected in some way? Or maybe there are other
songs that are connected to each other on the album?...
A>> No, "S.I.S" deals with Teemu´s death. The title track
is a reminder to our enemies, Impaled Nazarene is all that you fear! Most songs
deal with Christianity, like I said before. But they are not connected to each
other.
Q>> Last
time we heard from you guys, alcohol was the only solution. Is it still the
case or did you discover marihuana, chocolate, or
I don't know
?
A>> Alcohol still rules this lunatic world of ours!!! I don´t care
about pot, I fucking hate potheads, they make me sick!
Q>> How do
you think your fans will react when they'll buy the new Impaled Nazarene? I
suppose you know many of them; are they usually faithful?
A>> We got lots of new fans with the "AOWDNMP" album so it will
be interesting to see how they will react to the much more brutal album now.
We are now a 13 year old band, some fans have been there from the beginning
but some of them have grown out of the Metal scene. Which is something I can
never understand. Some people dig only our "Latex Cult" and "Rapture"
period, some prefer only the 1st two albums. Any band needs new fans to survive
and one can only hope that they will stick with the band for a long time.
Q>> I see
you've put a gasmask to the goat on your new cover. Is it because of the smell
of the worms or because its own smell or
?
A>> Gasmask is there because it is the symbol of nuclear Metal!
Q>> I found
an old videotape yesterday and there was "Karmageddon Warriors" on
it. I haven't seen any new video clip since then. I probably missed some. Anyway,
do you plan to record a new one for this album?
A>> No, Osmose did not give us video budget this time, unfortunately.
You may want to visit www.impnaz.com and click there media section. You can
download our video of "Hardboiled And Still Hellbound" for free.
Q>> Tour
plans yet?
A>> We do one-off shows around Europe soon and in Feb/March 2004, we shall
do our headline tour in Europe. We are trying to score as many open air festivals
as humanly possible for the next summer.
Q>> Say goodbye
J and add anything you'd like to add
A>> Goodbye, drink vodka and be free!!!
